economic empowerment
Equipping families to withstand social, economic and environmental shocks
Impact Relief partners with communities and the church to help families, especially women, youth, and vulnerable households, build secure, sustainable livelihoods. Focusing on household resilience, we provided practical financial skills, business and resource management training, and opportunities to expand income sources.
Group-based learning and peer support encourage shared knowledge, joint problem-solving, asset building, improved saving and resource management, and adoption of sustainable farming and income-generating practices.
By linking financial training with agriculture, vocational skills, and local market opportunities, Impact Relief helps families increase food production, stabilize incomes, prepare for future needs, and better withstand economic shocks, thereby creating pathways to self-reliance and lasting economic security.
our focus
-
We equip farmers to increase productivity. adapt to climate and achieve reliable food security.
Our approaches include
Agriculture for life (AFL) - Farmers are trained in improved agronomic practices, soil fertility management, and post-harvest handling through hands-on Farmer Field Schools, enabling practical learning and peer exchange.
Solar irrigation - We enable farmers to grow crops throughout the year by providing access to solar-powered irrigation systems that reduce climate risk and increase agricultural output.
Livestock pass on and management - We support households with small livestock and hands-on training that is multiplied within communities through a pass-on model. This enables families to enhance their food security, generate income, and build a crucial safety net to respond to economic and climate shocks.
-
We strengthen household incomes by building savings culture, expanding access to finance, and supporting diverse income-generating opportunities, including sustainable use of natural resources.
Our approaches includeSavings for Life - We support the establishment and strengthening of community-based savings and loans groups to enable households excluded from formal financial systems to save, access small loans, and invest in businesses and household needs. This promotes financial inclusion and long-term self-reliance.
Business and financial management - We also provide business and financial management training, equipping individuals with practical skills in budgeting, saving, and small business management to help them grow income, make informed financial decisions, and strengthen long-term financial stability
Nature- based enterprises - We support community-led forest and natural resource-based enterprises that generate income while promoting sustainable environmental management. Working with Village Natural Resources Management Committees (VNRMCs), communities engage in activities such as forest conservation and beekeeping that diversify incomes and strengthen climate resilience.
-
We equip young people with practical vocational skills that lead to employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Youth are connected to community colleges for hands-on training in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical installation, welding, bricklaying, and motor repair, improving employability and income opportunities.
“We started small, with little money and many doubts. Today, those small savings have grown into farms, businesses, and livestock that are improving our lives. We have learned that when we work together, we can overcome poverty and build something lasting for ourselves and our children.”
